Abandoned pothole excavations cause danger

462

Potholes dug out in preparation for repair in sections of DieMeer, Andrew and Marcus streets in Eduan Park on Wednesday were left unattended and were still uncovered today (Friday).
The absence of warning signs where the patches were excavated from the street surfaces has raised concern as they are quite deep and can cause serious damage to vehicles if not detected in time.
Acting Communications and Marketing Manager of Polokwane Municipality, Matshidiso Mothapo explained that different teams of the responsible contractor execute different tasks in the process of repair of potholes. “The team responsible for the excavation of the holes vacate the site to be followed by another team that uses different equipment and materials to fill, compact and seal the holes,” he said.
Mothapo earlier today undertook to source further comment regarding the contractor’s intentions to attend to the situation yet at the time of posting no news had been received.
