The annual Ebenezer Mile, celebrateing its 25th anniversary this year, will be hosted at the Mountain Yacht Club at the Ebenezer Dam on Saturday with all funds raised going towards projects maintained by Haenertsburg Rotary.
Rotary member, Ann Luther said the Ebenezer Mile was started by members of the Mountain Yacht Club during the drought of the 90s when there wasn’t really enough water in the Ebenezer Dam to sail enjoyably. The event has grown from strength to strength since then. Haenertsburg Rotary took over the organising of the Ebenezer Mile in 2001 and funds raised are spent on community projects such as the training of practitioners in early childhood development, planting indigenous trees at schools and crèches and providing blankets and wheelchairs for the needy, according to Luther.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the swim. For the fiercely competitive and super fit competitors, the Ebenezer Mile offers the exclusive
